Spring Cleaning 2007 - a Question
Ok, so it's 8 PM. I'm on a roll. I've got this idea that I might continue with the weeding out of crap in my study, but if I were to do that I think the whole experience might be improved by drinking some wine as I do so. What are your thoughts on drinking and organizing? Good idea? Not so good idea? Any advice you could give within the next hour would be greatly appreciated (though advice after that will still be taken under advisement for future cleaning enterprises).

My usual method is a beer and a Clash album turned up as loud as I can take it. The Pixies seem better for cooking, I must say.
SUCH a good idea. You'll stick with it longer, you'll be more entertained by your crap... and definitely do pick the right tunes.
But stick to white: Nothing like a cabernet to stain a whole pile of really useful documents!
For what it's worth, I throw out more stuff that way.
I agree! Wine will make the whole thing more bearable and I reckon you will come up with some surprisingly effective organizational strategies.
Bad, bad idea! You'll regret it in the morning. It's hard to predict what you'll predict you'll need when in your cups, but take my word for it: don't deposit what you've decided to jettison in the trash itself. Make a pile, then sift through it in the morning. You would not believe what I tossed the last time the bug caught me.
Well, so what I ended up doing was buying some wine, but only having a glass once I'd gone through a bunch of paper crap, as a kind of ceremonial reward. While drinking my ceremonial reward, I dealt with my stupid computer not knowing its IP addy and so not being able to connect to the internet. LAME.
Wine goes with everything - organizing, Twinkies, etc. Now, tequila shots might make you start throwing important stuff out!
Drinking (reasonably and responsibly) is almost always a good idea ... unless you have a particular problem with alcohol for various health or addiction reasons.
