Wow. Just wow. (A Stalking Story)

Ok, so Medusa's in the shower, and I was playing around on the internet, just googling random stuff. And I decided (for god knows what reason) to google this guy's name... this guy whom I dated in 1998 and haven't laid eyes on since 1999. This guy, well, he's kind of my one true love, except that I don't really believe in that.

This is not the first time I've googled him, but I've never been able to come up with any current information.

Until today.

All of a sudden, here he is, right there on the internet for me to see.

I bet he's still going out with that horrible girl I dumped him because of. Even though, of course, things were "kind of rocky" when last I saw him in 1999. I bet they're married. God, I hate the fact that in this age of technology it's possible to stalk people from afar. Most often you can just access enough information to tantalize and never is it the information that you really would like. It's not healthy.

Totally empathise with you. It's like, Statcounter too. I hate stacounter. It tells you too much.

Been there on the google-stalking front. Ick. Those internets are tricky-tricky.

Yeah, I hear you. I am a google junkie when it comes to people from my past. Not good. It's pretty bad when you find your ex on myspace too. Who wants to see current pics of him and his new girlfriend? Not me.

It's unbelievable how much information is floating online.

I really relate to this--I recently found my long-term ex on myspace (and I found this just through a simple "google" search of his name). Very weird, since it included a blog entry describing some of his recent dates as well as links to "friends" who I think he might be dating... Way too much info! (but so hard not to look...)

The internet is a dangerous play ground.

I've done this too. I've even taken it a step further, knowing that many women nowadays have "wedding webpages" on theknot.com, and you can search by the guy's name, too. I was just curious about a random ex, I told myself, but yes. It's kind of icky. my husband would probably be pretty cranky if he knew. It'll be our secret, okay?

One of the worst things about the internet. I put it up there in the top three which are 1. The time it wastes, 2., the fact you can't get away from your job and these *&%$^&* can email you whenever they want, 3., the info you can get about exes. Or the rivals who ruined your relationship.

Of course, what drives me crazy is the fact that some of my past romantic entanglements could be good professional connections now. Why oh why are all the people I had problems with so damn successful?

But then sometimes it's nice. There was this woman who dropped out of my grad program. I used to kind of worry that the program ruined her life because she had a sort of breakdown. It sounds like she's very successful and maybe even happy (she gave a talk on Buddhism to some lawyer's group, so I speculate that she is). That made me glad.
