Dunk the signifier into the signified and swirl it around a bit --- it's always so tasty that way!Sisyphushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09880634753539329199noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20099192.post-7003769668156156682009-01-28T15:39:00.000-05:002009-01-28T15:39:00.000-05:00I'm so jealous! I've been teaching here for 9 yea...I'm so jealous! I've been teaching here for 9 years now, and not a single snow day (or weather-related cancellation). And yet the white stuff's been on the ground since mid-November, with only a few days of thaw (which is very unusual--I'm not that far north).heleneschhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00379096203492608139noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20099192.post-71095024571652250782009-01-28T10:41:00.000-05:002009-01-28T10:41:00.000-05:00No, no, what a terrible idea. Over summer break, I...No, no, what a terrible idea. Over summer break, I do probably 65% of my research for the whole year. I fall back into my natural groove--staying up late, working until the wee hours of the morning, using my mornings for bike rides and email. I also travel in the summers when I can afford it, and since I study African literature, it's important to me to make it to Africa for at least a couple of weeks every couple of years. If I only had short breaks scattered throughout the year, I'd never have time to travel, and I'd never build up any research momentum. Don't take away my summers!Shane in SLChttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09009969830290878311noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20099192.post-64863170976723925482009-01-28T10:03:00.000-05:002009-01-28T10:03:00.000-05:00Oh yes, isn't it lovely?
